What's GDPR & Why Should You Care?

The Global Data Protection Regulations (see the ICO's website) come into force on 25th May 2018 and they fundamentally change the way businesses have to obtain consent from consumers before storing or processing their data.

For example, no longer can you automatically add someone to your newsletter after buying from you (or watching a webinar!), or add them to a 'funnel' or sales sequence or your newsletter after downloading a freebie. They need to give active, not passive, consent for all marketing, which will legally include a newsletter, even if you're not selling in it.

There are also rules coming in that affect every piece of information you hold about your subscribers or clients - even hand-written notes and Outlook contacts. These affect people's rights to be actively informed as to how this information will be stored and used - and their rights to have this data deleted.

This webinar is essential for you if:

  • You are a micro business or solopreneur (turnover below €2 million)
  • You keep any kind of data from customers or prospective customers, e.g.
    • a newsletter list
    • client notes
    • CRM systems
    • lists of contact details from consumer conference events
    • sales information
    • forum posts
    • website comments
